What is a Toothache?

A toothache usually refers to pain around the teeth or jaws.

These are of utmost concern and visit the dentist as soon as possible.

  • What are the causes of toothache?
  • Are you experiencing pain at night?
  • While chewing food?
  • During the day?
  • While eating something cold like ice-cream?

Majorly, it is caused by tooth problems, such as a dental cavity, a cracked tooth, an exposed tooth root, or gum disease. Disorders of the jaw joint can also cause pain that can be referred to as a toothache (wisdom teeth).

Well, these are major reasons for a dental visit. If you experiencing any of the above problems, consult an dentist for their expert advise.

How Do We Diagnose And Treat A Tooth-Ache?

We, at Park dental, acknowledge your problem, by taking a thorough history, and with the innovative NIRI technology and IOC (Intra oral camera) detect every hidden cavity and the cause of pain and provide a necessary treatment plan.

Traditional panoramic x-rays are fantastic; however, they have limitations because they show a 3-dimensional object on a flat, 2-dimensional x-ray. Park Dental Care uses 5-D x-ray machines. This technology allows us to see your dental anatomy as it actually exists! We use 5-D x-rays for identifying potential cracked teeth, diagnosing infection.

We provide different treatment plans for different tooth ache problems, depending upon the severity of the pain. The severity of a toothache ranges from mild to sharp and excruciating.

If there’s pain while chewing food, it would mean food lodgement in a cavity. In such cases, a thorough cleaning and a GIC or Composite restoration would be suggested.

Toothache while eating ice-cream may be due to sensitivity and requires immediate attention like desensitization by our experts.

Pain during the day might be due to cracked or fractured tooth, that requires either root canal or extraction, depending upon the radiographic assessment.

When your tooth displays indications of infection or substantial pulpal nerve damage, your dentist may advise root canal. Bacteria can enter the deeper layer of tooth, when it is broken or has a sizable cavity. If the infection is left untreated, it may result in bone loss, tooth loss or other serious complications. If a tooth has been severely damaged or infected, root canal therapy can rescue it from extraction. After cleaning the canals and disinfecting them, a restoration is done to close the surface area, followed by a cap.

Now due to advanced technology at our dental clinic, these are treated painlessly and more efficiently by our expert Endodontist. Endodontist expertises at root canal treatments, taking utmost care of the patient and their problem.

When there’s pain near the jaw joint, wisdom teeth could be the underlying cause. After radiographic examination, our Oral Surgeon suggests the possible treatment for it.
